New Era

I always like to think something good's on its way...
Today I watched the Presidential Inauguration
All those thousands & thousands of hopeful smiles
the rejoicing
the so ready semi-fumbled promise
the poet's dream of a reality of expanding light
the old minister's quaint & funny prayer
& I felt my heart swell
It did swell with appreciation
as my eyelashes grew crisp with salt
& I knew myself again
as part of my country
whatever that entails
part of a good intention
sometimes managed badly
as all human effort must be
even the best
which this could yet still be
the best we could hope for
for now

I'm happy for you, that you remain hopeful, watching the latest Presidential Inauguration.

You will not be surprised if I write here that thousands of smiles and good intentions are not enough to save the U.S. and the rest of the world from the consequences of the last U.S. presidency. Action is needed, ASAP!

Best wishes,
S.

//In one of his first acts in office, President Obama has ordered the U.S. government to suspend prosecutions of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay for 120 days, military officials said Tuesday. Obama has vowed to close the naval prison at the U.S. base. While his order does not go that far, it will stop the prosecutions of 21 detainees facing war crimes charges.// - CNN

This certainly sounds right, if it means that those prisoners will be quickly transferred to another prison, where their legal status would be better defined.

Hope!

Yes, I too cried
Watched the tears of faces
of all colors and shapes
nationalities and dreams
ages and class
as they too cried
with joy
this moment
of hope
as arrived at last

I remain hopeful that this great man will correct many wrong things. I believe in Barack Hussein Obama, & pray daily for his safety.

I truly have NEVER felt so connected to a world leader, & I do hope my instinct towards hope will never desert me.

It's a time to rejoice & then get down to clean business. Our country has a mandate to help each other & work hard for what we feel is the right direction, the direction of Hope, the expanding Light that is Love in Action.

Abraham Lincoln pleaded for our citizens, each one, to embrace the Better Angel of our nature. I hope this concept keeps growing & the things I do will always be constructive things, even if they must necessarily start small.
